Last weekend I started the reading of this book I heard about on a cultural radio program, The writing of the gods
by Edward Dolnick. It's about the archaeological find of the Rosetta Stone and the Herculean task of deciphering the hieroglyph writing used by Egyptians. It takes you back in history to a moment that connects the times of pharaohs with the modern world of early XIX century. It talks about the immense task carried out by few men to discover and understand a writing, and by inference a language, used centuries a centuries ago that was lost. The book encapsulates the interest and passion for the Egyptian culture that never ceases to end. Still reading and feeling far far away ..... I always like to admire it when I travel to London and I visit the British Museum, I never miss it!
